Birth. School. College. Job. Wife. Kids. Cemetery

Are you on track to live the “traditional” American lifestyle?

You know what I mean by this...

Your friends, school teachers, employers, coaches and even your parents all guided you down a certain path in life. It’s probably the same path they, themselves followed.

It goes like this:

First, you’re born. Wooooooo!

Then you sit in a desk and get molded by the public school system until you’re 18.

If you ‘worked hard’ enough, you get the privilege of enslaving yourself to Sallie Mae for $150k - $200k so you can party and learn nothing or real importance for the next 4-6 years in college.

Then you get an entry-level job. You keep your nose down, lick boots, and become a cog in the machine for the next 5-10 years before you start making a real, “livable” wage.

You meet a spouse. You get married. You struggle financially as most couples do.

Then as soon as you start making more money, you buy a big house and go further into debt.

You have a few kids. Then you watch them grow up and repeat the same cycle.

You live for the weekends. You can’t wait until 5:00 pm on Friday. The weekend is over in a blink. And every Sunday night, you stare at the ceiling, wondering when things are going to start getting better.

Then one day you finally get old enough to retire. You play golf. You take care of your grandkids. You finally notice that all that retirement money you’ve been saving for decades has started to produce a solid ROI…. and you’re rich! (Just don’t forget to make it last for the rest of your life!)

Then you die.

One hell of a life, huh?

Most people were raised to follow this path. And for a lot of people - it’s OK. There are a lot of people who are happy following those instructions. There’s nothing wrong with this.

But you have to see what the entire cycle looks like if you ever want to break out of it. You have to see the pattern that happens over and over again if you ever want to change it. You have to recognize what your future can and will look like if you’re ever going to change course and build a better future… one where YOU are the guy writing the script for your movie.

One helpful exercise when you’re starting out in business is to write down what you want your life to look like.

Some people even do things like create “vision boards” and all that…

You can if you want… but you don’t have to overcomplicate this. Just sit down with a pencil and pad and jot down a few ideas. Write out a few things you’d like to accomplish in life. Write down what you want your life to look like in 5, 10 or 20 years.

You need to start visualizing what your life COULD look like before it actually happens. You need a destination before you get in the car and start driving…

Once you’ve done this exercise here’s what you should do next.

Find a system that you can use to start moving closer to your dream lifestyle.

Follow a proven set of steps that will help you start creating wealth for yourself. And set aside a little time each day toward building your bridge to freedom.
